“One does not stop the juggernaut by throwing oneself infront of it”

“Unjust laws have to be fought ideologically; they cannot be corrected by mere disobedience or futile martyrdom” ( Rand 266). It has been way overdue for a moral and ethical code in the business industry, and I am not speaking of more regulations – but a sense of responsability for ones actions. Jp Morgan chase reported a 2 billion dollar blunder early last week: but the worst thing that happened to those in charge is that they lost their jobs, when in fact a lost job means very little to them because they have been able to retire and be financially better off than most. The worst part is everyday citizens cannot afford to fully retire in their 50 or 60s. In Florida the elderly has returned to the workforce claiming jobs that used to be held by hound adolescent adults in high school. This has created a displaced workforce in the youth age group within the United States. Companies pay even less to the elderly and they hold a much stronger work ethic. The problems do not lie in the system of capitalism but those who carry out the process of business, they lack of moral and ethical standards they hold are destroying this once, great nation where people once were able to acccomplish their dreams. I once believed in the world but as days go by this nightmare has come to fruition and I myself is ashamed to be an American. What happened to people? When did profit become more important than the person next door starving, or the woman down the street dying a slow painful death because she cannot afford her cancer medicine. It creates a sickness in the pit of my stomach to know Americans with defend the the legality of gay marriage but will not attack or fight for education or thy neighbors life. For a society whom claims that they’re values stem from Christianity resemeble a selfish society whom has resigned from having any concern for their own nations population. I am a firm believer in an isolationist policy because it will solve numerous plights around the world simultaneously. Now one may see this as a selfish act, but how can one present an altruistic philosophy when their own are hungry, uneducated, dying, and accruing enormous debt, while others get “fat” off the workers of this country – its backbone and only reason it can stand. The constituiton was created to protect individuals from a tryannical government and if one of those governments happens to come to power it is our duty to stand up, revolt, and overthrow such government power.

This is not a call to arms, but a call of action and resistance-march on Washington Occupy Congress, lets take back our voice lets dismantle the machine of defense and build a new nation that believes in peace and global prosperity.

Progression of the Occupy Movement

The occupy movement in my eyes pulled off a successful day of action on May 1 2012. The rallies across the nation, as well as, the globe showed an enormous turn out. Whether it was the group for students, immigrant workers, or unions the cause was freedom–and freedom was sought. Through the free universities held at Bryant Park or the marches in Seattle, people finally regained their voice and that was heard. Now that there is a concerted effort to keep the movement going, there must be a consensus of nonviolent disobedience no matter what the cause. If the movement reverts to violent outburst, all is lost, because it will destroy the true essence of the true revolution. I would also, be weary of government intervention, due to past actions on “radical” organizations….ie: the black panther party and other social movements of the mid-sixties till now, have infiltrated or try to use media to destroy organizational relations. We must steadfast in times of trouble and despair, because the product will be truly a democratic country where the people will regain their voice in how the country is to be operated.

Social media is going to be the most influencing way to reach new participators, as well as, organize rallies and new projects. First, let’s begin with the rally it needs to be have a specific purpose. Now this may seem a tad bit odd; however, to rally without a purpose is simple a large social gathering that turns into an angry mob. By establishing a concise means of action, we must consider the meaning or such actions as a completely United movement, rather than numerous factions. It are the factions of the movement that actually end up becoming more radical and extreme, however I use the words radical and extreme very loosely in these terms. Due to the negative connotations that are regarded with these words, I unfortunately will continue this language lock by defining radical and extreme in a negative light. The pure essence of having these negative factions will cause an overall negative view of the movement within it self- which will create doubt within the movement creating even more separate factions. The determination of today reflects tomorrow, so with that I will now discuss ideologies that must be considered.

I believe a revolution can be successfully accomplished if a concrete set of ideologies are determined which a constituency can be formed out of. Some may be wondering why must we conform to the current state of political “foreplay”, and this is why. To beat the politicians at their own game we must take their power and voice away just as they have with ours. By destroying the political machine that has been created, we will be able to accomplish major strides in our campaign for a more just democratic society. We must step out of our comfort zones and establish legitimate political parties throughout the United States in order to eliminate the two party dictatorship that has eradicated its’ peoples voice. The question of the general population is “what is this movement all about?” I have pondered this question for quite some time now and there are Thirteen points. (A) fair and equal representation in government, (B) the elimination of lobbyist from Washington and political forums, (C) salary limitations for corporations and inflated wages comparative in nature to prices, (D) amending the constitution to provide environmental provisions protecting the globe, (E) penalties to corporations that outsource laborious to other countries, (F) a comprehensive college bailout (G) The pay back of American Tax payer money by the auto industry, (H) immigration reform granting citizenship to individuals who have to register in order to be taxed appropriately, and are not eligible for economic help unless employed,(I) the dissolution of the CIA, FBI, NSA, into one specific branch of the government, and the reestablishment of the space program, (J) the reinvestment of the American government in education, (K) the reform of the American health care system creating generic prescription drug plans for all citizens, (L) A reform in patent law allowing beneficial technologies or drugs to be produced instead of being hidden under the protection of the law, (M) the taxation of off shore corporate accounts and retroactive tax evasion legislation.

Moral Conflict

Moral dilemma

The question is whether we as a society want to live in a meaningful just environment and be able to flourish and be successful with fair wages or would we rather live in a society were only a few individuals hold the wealth while the predominant portion of the population is forced into debt. My rationalization is from the ideas of unrestricted business; however, there must be a code of business ethics established and followed-if this is to be successful. There can be no government interference, but monopolies cannot be established and ethical business must be practiced at a moral level. The worker can no longer be seen as indispensable, but a valuable part of the business structure, with that notion if the business profits and higher-level employees are entitled to inconceivable amount of reward’s and bonuses- the workers should receive a comparable portion, due to their dedication in making such profits possible.

The intolerable greed, immoral, and unethical practices that frequently occur in government and big business is horribly disgusting. The government of the United States has continually placed the needs of big business- corporate America before, its’ citizens-the constituents whom place them in power. Et Tu Brute by one’s own friend- the people whom we instill our voice to enact policies that are detrimental to the majority populist. In my eyes, I see treason upon the individuals whom line their pockets and political campaigns from PAC’s or other corporate entities- disenfranchising every American citizen that values their right to vote. The nefarious acts that are conducted behind closed doors can no longer exist the monetary aspect of politics destroys the fundamental aspects of equality. The economic inequality that is created because of the monies that are allocated for influential purposes rather than purposes beneficial towards society as a whole can no longer be corrupt shadow lurking in the corner- it simply can no longer be tolerated with society.

How do we change society from its current disjuncture to a path of new prosperity and equality? Ethics and morality, but first we need to define ethics and morality in a business sense and in terms of government. I will first attempt to define the way I perceive how ethics and business should coincide with one another in an environment. Within an ethical business environment every worker from top to bottom receive the same type of benefit programs from healthcare to stock options -this will eliminate business from denying their workers benefits for their contribution towards the businesses success. Now one may ask, to what degree is a business responsible for it worker? In addition, my answer is for as much time as the worker dedicates to serving your needs. It is a simple idea of reciprocation. The idea that individuals are seen as replaceable components to a money-producing machine is both immoral and unethical; however, ethics is still my focal point. Is it ethical for the corporations who are considered people not to be financially punished and reposed for the crimes they commit- no longer can they be seen as white collar crimes, but forms of economic oppression, which if ensues and is allowed by the government, the people have a right to rebellion. The inequalities between an average American citizen and a corporation, which has the same rights as an individual,  though intact has supersede our fundamental rights and is at an advantage economically and politically. Ethics in government needs to coincide with a one strike you’re out rule, meaning if a politician conducts nefarious activities with other political actors or outside influence, he / or she belong in a prison alongside of murderers and rapists because that deceit destroys our ability to vote with coercion from independent agencies -buying influence.

There needs to be a sense of moral obligations to society and to the community that supports your business or product. One may ask why a business has a moral obligation to society. Because without society allowing that business to operate and fuel its’ profit margins at least refrain from poisoning the environment in which we coexist. Morality within capitalism and business needs to exist if the luxury of freedom is expected to continue to exist because if morality in terms of business continues on the downward spiral of greed then these United States we live in is a farce. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness has turn into an arbitrary thought and reality has shaped a world based on Darwinism, rather than the moral philosophies of help thy neighbor. The lack or moral consciousness that revolves around the world of politics and business is quite inefficient for the individual citizen due to the inept policies that are created that hinder individuals and the economy. The lack of concern for the citizens of the United States, but rather corporate interests that affects the American system of capitalism – negatively are perpetrated by our legislators. The disestablishment of tariffs and taxes on corporations ability to import/export ; swiftly transferred American infrastructure to third world nations for cheap unjust exploitation of third world citizens. The disappearance of factories gave birth to a new facet of displaced workers due to the reverberation of the abuses by politicians: these policies and legislation had been enacted for the benefit of business, not the populist. The government has acted immorally towards the constituents, whom place them in power to prevent corruption, but never the less power corrupts and the idea of greed takes over the initial motive for equality and justice.

Now I ask what actions may be taken to protect our economy, in addition to the citizens in which it encompasses and controls. Yes, the idea is the economy can be used as a mechanism of control over a population when times are bleak. This is why certain news stories about billionaires who retire at the age of 38 do not receive negative publicity for the little effort produced to accumulate such casts amount of incomes, rather the opposite is usually the case. Therefore, I believe to create a level playing field within the economy salary caps need to be installed within the corporate machine, and politicians refrain from interacting with lobbyists, because of the notion to serving public- not corporate interests.
